Second Sunday of Easter

Devine Mercy Sunday

April 18, 2004

Theme:  As Thomas believed because he saw the risen Jesus.  So too were many brought to faith through the various signs and wonders wrought by the apostles.  They proclaimed as Lord “the stone rejuected by the builders, the First and the Last of the One who lives”.

Gardening God’s Way

Plant three rows of peas:

Peace of mind
Peace of heart
Peace of soul

Plant four rows of squash:

Squash gossip
Squash indifference
Squash grumbling
Squash selfishness

Plant four rows of lettuce:

Lettuce be faithful
Lettuce be kind
Lettuce be obedient
Lettuce really love one another

No garden without turnips:

Turnip for service
Turnip for meetings
Turnip to help one another

Water freely with patience
and cultivate with love.
There is much fruit for your garden,
Because you reap what you sow.

To finish your garden,
We must have thyme:

Thyme for God
Thyme for family
Thyme for prayer
Thyme for study
Thyme for each other

Called by Name

Our deanery is participating in Called by Name, a program of vocation awareness that begins this weekend.  This program offers an opportunity for us to pray for vocations; to recognize gifts and potential for leadership and service in members of our parish and to encourage these members to share their gifts in priesthood and consecrated life.

If you are interested in learning more about being of service; please complete a nomination form found at the rear of the church and place them in the collection basket.
